Extended Positioning Assemblies
As the name suggests, an Extended Positioning Assembly is an extension of the Positioning Assembly concept, supported by Creo Parametric and Creo Elements/Direct Modeling only.
Extended Positioning Assembly Publishing For Creo Parametric
As a part of extended positioning assembly publishing support for Creo Parametric, WVS publishes a Positioning Assembly Representation that represents a specific Simplified Representation as Full Geometry and the remainder of the structure as Positioning Assembly references (branch-links to the sub-assemblies and parts). This can also be used, when explicitly setting the Default or Master Rep as the Simplified Representation to use, where sub-assemblies that have assembly level features in the assembly are published as Full Geometry and the remainder as Positioning Assembly references.

If configured, Publish Jobs are created and processed accordingly for these objects.
Extended Positioning Assembly Publishing For Creo Elements/Direct Modeling
Publishing CEDM assembly as a positioning assembly can fail when the respective assembly has defined a selective instance at any level. To resolve this issue, Creo View Adapter has implemented support for extended positioning assembly publishing support for CEDM. In this case CEDM Adapter publishes Selective Instances node as Full Geometry and the remainder of the structure as Positioning Assembly references (branch-links to the sub-assemblies and parts). This can be done by setting the CEDM adapter to fall back to extended positioning assembly publishing by using the Recipe setting Fallback to Extended Positioning Assembly Publishing.
TheFallback to Extended Positioning Assembly Publishing has the following values:
• None: Using this option CEDM assembly publishing continues to fail publishing of assemblies containing Selective instances
• As Required: This enables the publishing process to automatically fallback to the Extended Positioning Assembly, when the assembly has a selective instance. This is the default value.
The Windchill user only needs to enable the positioning assembly publishing. The worker adapts to positioning assembly or extended positioning assembly based on content of assembly.
