View Administration
|
Views are only available in Windchill PDMLink and Windchill ProjectLink.
|
Within Windchill, a part is assigned to a view when it is created. A part may be a view-dependent object if several versions of the part are required to address the needs of the various organizations working on it. For example, the Engineering and Manufacturing departments may want to work on different versions of a part, with each version representing a view specific to that department's needs.
The View Administration utility, available from the > page, allows the site administrator to create and modify the product structure views. The view is then available for the end user when creating a new part. Only site administrators can access the View Administration utility.
The View Administration utility displays the Views table. Views displayed in the table are shown in a hierarchy. You can expand or collapse the hierarchy to see only parent views or to include child views. From the table, the following table-level actions are available:
Action | Icon | Description |
---|
| | Create a new root view. |
| | Deletes the selected views. |
The following row-level actions are available by right-clicking a table row.
Action | Icon | Description |
---|
| | Changes the name of an existing view. |
| | Moves an existing view from one location in the structure to a new location in the structure. |
| | Creates a new view and inserts it into the structure hierarchy. The inserted view becomes a child of the view it is inserted beneath. |
| | Deletes a specific view from the Views table. Once deleted, all existing children become children of the deleted view's parent. |
