Understanding the Architecture
The basic architecture integrating Windchill, and external systems includes:
• Windchill Server and Client
• ThingWorx Platform with Flow (API Gateway, OSLC Connector)
• External OSLC server
This integration supports basic authentication.

Windchill and external systems communicate with each other as shown in the illustration below.
Windchill uses ThingWorx Flow as an OSLC client to communicate with various external OSLC servers. The ThingWorx Flow connection allows you to locate specific external resources and create trace links between Windchill traceable objects and external resources. For more details on trace links, see Working with Traces.
