Client and Server Logging Overview (CATIA V5)
Windchill Workgroup Manager for CATIA V5 can collect and compile logs that contain the information that PTC Technical Support requires to help diagnose and resolve issues. Logs are collected and then compiled into a single ZIP file. The ZIP file is saved to the location specified in the PTC_AUTO_LOG_COLLECTION_DIR environment variable.
You can configure logging to occur automatically or be performed manually. Automated logging is especially helpful for capturing logs for issues that are difficult to reproduce or occur intermittently. By default, logging is performed manually.
Logs can be collected only if you open CATIA V5 first, and then launch Windchill Workgroup Manager. If you open Windchill Workgroup Manager first, logs cannot be collected automatically and must be collected manually instead.
The log collector gathers the following types of information:
• Standard Windchill Workgroup Manager for CATIA V5 information—Windchill Workgroup Manager client and server log, CAD adapter log, ND log, Windchill Workgroup Manager client information, Windchill Workgroup Manager client preferences
• Additional CATIA V5 information—CATIA V5 registry entries, CATIA V5 software configurations, CATIA V5 version (including service pack and hot fix information), CATSettings, CATIA V5 license configuration, CATIA V5 settings, CATIA V5 Abend logs
• System information—Environment variables, registry entries, Excel version, browser version, Visual Studio and Visual Studio Redistributable information, operating system service pack, available RAM
• Theorem logs—Standard and setup logs
