Associating a Defect with a Remote Defect
You can create a defect in Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software on a remote defect and associate both the defects as follows:
1. In the New Defect window, select a value from the Repository drop-down list which is a combination of a defect-tracking adapter and a project.
2. Choose Associate a Remote Defect.
3. Click to search for the remote defect in the defect-tracking system. The Search window opens.
4. Use the fields in the following table to find remote defects:
Field Name
Description
Keyword
A search attribute for the remote defect. This is a mandatory field. You can also use asterisks (*) as wildcard characters to indicate that one or more characters can appear as a search string for the defect.
Repository
Populated by default based on the value that you previously selected from the Repository drop-down list. You cannot edit this field.
Product
Displays the product name to which the defect belongs. You cannot edit this field.
State
Indicates where the defect currently is in its life cycle. The values in this field vary depending on the attribute value map defined in the attributeMap.xml file.
5. Click Search to display the remote defects that match the search criteria in the Defects Table. The defects are listed under the following columns:
Column Name
Description
Remote ID
A label assigned to the remote defect by the third-party defect tracking system. It can be any alphanumeric value.
Associated
Indicates whether the defect is already associated to a defect in Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software.
Name
A brief summary of the remote defect as it appears in the third-party defect-tracking system.
State
The state of the defect. The values in this column vary depending on the defect-tracking adapter that you have selected in the Repository field.
Priority
The relative importance of the defect in comparison to other defects.
Scheduling
The scheduled order of priorities to fix the defect.
Assignee
The person to whom the defect is currently assigned.
Project
The parent project to which the defect belongs.
6. Select a defect in the Defects Table and click OK. The Search window closes and the attributes of the remote defect are populated in the Attributes area. You cannot edit these attributes.
7. If required, click Next on the next two windows after or without selecting affected objects and attachments.
8. Click Finish.
