Internal and External Action Plan Owners
As a CAPA planner, you can assign an action plan to an internal or external action plan owner. Internal owners can complete both corrective and preventive action plans while external owners can only complete corrective actions.
Internal Action Plan Owners
Internal action plan owners are members of your organization. As an internal action plan owner, you can use the Action Type list to select one of the following actions:
Correction
Corrective Action (Completed)
Corrective Action (Planned)
Preventive Action (Completed)
Preventive Action (Planned)
Once the Plan state is complete, internal owners are contacted to complete the action plan.
External Action Plan Owners
Action plans are sometimes assigned to an owner outside of the company, such as a supplier. When a supplier is required to complete an action plan, this is referred to as a supplier corrective action request (SCAR) task.

System administrators must provide suppliers a system login to complete the action plan.
As an external action plan owner, you can use the Action Type list to select one of the following actions:
Supplier Corrective Action (Completed)
Supplier Corrective Action (Planned)
Once the action Plan state is complete, the internal and external action plan owners are contacted to complete the action plan. For more information, see Conducting an Action Plan Task.

By default, the CAPA - Action Plan Team Source preference populates the team members of an CAPA Action from the context of an object. Thus, when you create a CAPA action, the role members for this action come from its Quality context. When the preference is enabled, these role members are replaced with the members of the CAPA Team. This allows customers to create a unique team for each CAPA that are later propagated to the child actions. The PropagateTeam.propagate() method is only used out-of-the-box for CAPA Actions. However, you can configure other workflows to call the method to achieve the same behavior.
