Creating a Standard Operation
You can create a standard operation from the:
Folder browser page of a product
Structure tab of a process plan
To create a standard operation from the Folder browser:
1. In Windchill MPMLink, navigate to the folder detail page of a product.
2. In the Folder Contents toolbar, click Actions. Click New > Standard Operation. The New Standard Operation dialog box opens.
3. Specify the following details for a standard operation:
In Category, select a standard operation type from the menu.
In Name, enter a name for the standard operation.
In Location, click Autoselect Folder if you want the standard operation object to be created in the product folder from which you launched the action. Otherwise, click Select Folder and enter a path to an alternate folder.
Also, select appropriate options from the Default Trace Code and Unit lists.
4. Optionally, specify appropriate values or text in the Number, View, Description, and Long Description fields for the standard operation.
5. Click OK.
A confirmation message appears that the object was created successfully.
To create a standard operation from the Structure tab of a process plan:
1. Select the operation or process plan node under which you want to add the standard operation.
2. In the Editing toolbar, click Insert > Insert Operation. The Insert Operations dialog box opens.

You can also right-click and select Editing > Insert Operation to open the Insert Operations dialog box.
You can also use the Insert Operations action in the Uses tab of the process plan browser to open the Insert Operations dialog box.
3. In the No of operations field, enter the number of standard operations to be added.
4. In the Type list, select Standard Operation.
5. Optionally, select the Checkout Object check box to check out the standard operations once they are added under the operation or process plan.
6. Click OK.
The newly created standard operations appear under the operation or process plan node.
