Customizing Manufacturers and Vendors
Within your organization, the Site Administrator can configure manufacturer and vendor object types to meet specific business needs and processes of your organization. You can customize these objects by doing the following:
Create additional subtypes for the manufacturer and vendor object types

Creating subtypes can be useful if you want to restrict access to particular object types. For example, you may want to restrict access to the parent object type (manufacturer and vendor), but allow unrestricted access to the subtypes of manufacturer or vendor. Additionally, each subtype can have its own attribute set.
Define new attributes for the manufacturer or vendor type for your organization
Organize additional attributes into the create, edit, and information page attribute panels
