Adding Users to Windchill ESI Groups
As mentioned earlier, in the section Adding Users to Windchill ESI Groups and Mapping Roles, Windchill ESI creates a team template named ESI Team during the installation process. This template is associated to the Windchill ESI workflow roles. Also, during installation, two ESI groups, ESI Administrators, and ESI Authors are created. Initially, these two groups have the Administrators group specified as the participant. You can modify any of these defaults by allowing new or existing users access to these groups.
For more information on how to add users to the Windchill ESI groups and map the groups to the ESI Team template workflow roles in Windchill PDMLink, refer to the topic Adding Users in Windchill PDMLink.
Verify that the following access control lists (ACLs) have been set for the listed groups:

The administrator provides read access to users for ESITransaction, ESITarget, and ESIRelease objects, so that they can be viewed in the Related ESI Transactions page. You can control the association and removal of distribution targets by setting a preference to specify a group name for the Preference ESI > Settings > Enable ability to associate and remove distribution targets. When permissions are the same for Windchill ESI authors and all users, only ESI authors or ESI administrators can associate and remove distribution targets when the preference is set to an appropriate group. Other users can see read-only data for distribution targets and enterprise systems transactions.
