Delivery Options
Delivery options do not apply to the initial versions of a package as the only valid option is a full delivery. Subsequent versions of the package can have different options depending on your configuration and the state of the previous version. Possible options include complete delivery, incremental delivery, and informational incremental delivery. If you are planning to include a manifest file in your delivery of a package, technical data package, CDRL package, or SDRL package, an informational incremental delivery is the best option.
*
The Delivery Options presented are based on your site’s configuration for the package type.
For more information, see Package Type-Based Properties.
Use the Delivery Options field on the Zip Package for Delivery window to specify the scope of the content delivered to the package recipient. You can either zip all package content or select a previous delivery to the same recipient from which you want to increment the delivery. For example, if you need to send a monthly update of progress on a product to a customer, you can limit the size of the package by only sending those objects that have been added to the package or have been updated since your last update. The delivery options are set every time a delivery is zipped, so you can send a full delivery for the next update if requested.
The following delivery options are available:
*
The Provide sync delivery from and Provide incremental sync delivery from options are available only if the downgrade feature is enabled.
Option
Description
Provide complete delivery
Select this option to send all package content.
Provide incremental delivery from
Select this option to send only the content that has been added, updated, or removed since a previously created delivery of the same recipient name identified as the base delivery. If you are sending a package with a manifest or an offline viewer, this content appears with status icons to indicate if the object is new, updated, absent, or deleted since the previous delivery.
Use the find icon to browse to the delivery from which you want to send only updated information.
Provide complete delivery with incremental information from
Select this option to send all package content and include only newly added content in the manifest file based on the manifest option selected and the identified base delivery of the same recipient name.
Use the find icon to browse to the delivery from which you want to send only updated information.
*
The Provide complete delivery with incremental information from option is only available for packages, technical data packages, CDRL packages, or SDRL packages.
Provide sync delivery from
Sync delivery is created from a downgraded delivery of the same recipient name. Select this option to send all the contents that are currently accessible, and were delivered upto the base delivery of the selected downgraded delivery of the same recipient name. This is needed to recover the information that has been lost during the downgrade delivery of the same recipient name after the target system is upgraded to the same release level as source and thus brings the data object model at the same level. Use the find icon to browse to the downgraded delivery of same recipient name of the package from which sync deliveries can be created.
*
The Provide sync delivery from option is only available when the package has a zipped downgraded delivery of the same recipient name created.
Provide incremental sync delivery from
Incremental Sync delivery is created from a sync/incremental sync delivery of the same recipient name. Select this option to send all the contents that were skipped in a sync delivery of the same recipient name. Use the find icon to browse to the sync/incremental sync delivery of same recipient name of the package from which incremental sync deliveries can be created.
*
The Provide incremental sync delivery from option is only available when the package has one or more sync deliveries of the same recipient name created.
*
To ensure that all the replicated data on the target machine is completely synchronized, you must follow the specified order:
1. Import all the downgraded deliveries on target.
2. Upgrade the target to the same release as the source.
3. Then create the sync deliveries against the last imported downgraded deliveries.
4. Import all sync deliveries on the target system to ensure any data dropped during the downgrade is recovered and replicated.
