Generating QuickView Thumbnails Using Scheduler
To generate QuickView thumbnail, the assembly must have an associated default representation. If a default representation is not available, the thumbnail will not be created for that assembly. For information on generating representation, see Generating Assembly Representations Using Scheduler.
The out-of-the-box publish job MPMGenerateQuickViewLatestIterationAllRep generates QuickView thumbnails for the latest iterations of assembly parts that satisfy any of the following criteria:
Assembly parts with upstream equivalent links. Parts with self-equivalent links are not considered.
Assembly parts allocated to an operation, including operated-on parts.
Work centers and tooling.
*
You can customize the criteria for generating thumbnails of assemblyparts as per business requirements. For more information, see Customizing Publish Jobs for Generating Assembly Representations and QuickView thumbnails.
The eligible assemblies are validated against publish rules, if configured. To ignore this validation, you can configure the property com.ptc.windchill.associativity.wvs.validateQuickViewPublishRules to false. This property is available in <WT_HOME>/codebase/com/ptc/core/foundation/associativity/xconfs/associativity.properties.xconf. For information on configuring publish rules, see Configuring Publish Rules. For information on sample publish rules, see Sample Publish Rules.
To generate QuickView thumbnails, perform the following procedure:
1. Open Windchill Navigator and select Utilities from Site, Organizations, Projects, Products, or Libraries,
2. Under Business Administration, select WVS Job Scheduler Administration.
3. In theSchedule Jobwindow, enter a name and description for the publishing job.
4. Select the Job Type as Thumbnail Job.
5. Select the Job as MPMGenerateQuickViewLatestIterationAllRep.
6. Specify the Start job and Job frequency details as required, and click Schedule.
After the job is executed successfully, the thumbnails are displayed for the eligible assemblies.
For more information on scheduler-based publishing, refer to WVS Job Scheduler Administration.
If an assembly is updated after generating the QuickView thumbnail, you can regenerate the thumbnail for that assembly by executing the MPMRegenerateQuickViewLatestIterationAllRep job. Only those thumbnails that are generated by the MPMGenerateQuickViewLatestIterationAllRep job or the Generate QuickView action are updated. You can schedule the job as specified above and execute the job as required.
