Check In (CATIA V5)
Checking in the Drawing CAD document does not require any checkin of a Windchill part. Checking in a drawing when the model is in the workspace can establish the compatibility of the drawing to a model and the model’s owner-associated part.
In order to ensure there is no change in the compatibility of the drawing’s model or its part (that is, as long as the drawing maintains a drawing reference link to its model), then the model must be in the workspace when the drawing is checked in. A check in conflict should appear if the model is not in the workspace when trying to check in a drawing.

The drawing does not need to be in the CAD session memory; it only needs to be in the workspace of the drawing.
Checking in a new iteration of a drawing that is compatible with a part should result in the new iteration of the drawing being compatible with the same part, assuming the same set of models are shown in the drawing. This should also be true even if the drawing model is not modified.
Checking in a new iteration of the part does not affect the compatible drawings. In fact it should return the same drawings before and after the check in, because the new iteration of the part maintains an owner association to the same iteration of the drawing’s model.
Checking in CAD model that is shown on a drawing will also check in a new iteration of the part. Checking in a new iteration of the drawing model does not affect the compatible drawings. The new iteration of the drawing model considers itself related to the same set of drawings as the previous iteration
