Standard Windchill Search Indexing Policy
Indexing policies govern the process whereby Windchill objects are indexed. Use the indexing policy to manage the following:
A domain, an object type, and life cycle state that triggers the indexing process.
Map a domain, an object type, and life cycle to a set of keyword collections.
One or more indexes that are updated when indexing is triggered.
As an administrator, you must define and maintain the object types to be indexed and indexing policies that match your business processes. Use the Policy Administration utility to manage indexing policies.
By default there is one indexing policy defined in every new Windchill installation:
It is an all-inclusive indexing policy:
Domain
Context
This policy covers objects in all domains, starting at the Site context and including all organizations.
Type
All standard Windchill objects and their subtypes are indexed.
State
Objects are indexed in all states (whenever an object is created or changes state).
Collections
The object indexes are stored in a single collection (wblib).
To implement a less comprehensive indexing strategy, you must delete this policy and create new individual policies for every organization, object type, and life cycle state you would like to be included. There is no capability to exclude specific organizations, objects, or states from the standard rule.
For more information about creating and editing indexing policies, see Indexing Rules.
