Replacing an Existing Resource
To replace an existing resource with another resource, perform the following steps:
1. Select the objects you want to modify from the Resulting Objects table of a change task. You can select either operations or standard control characteristics individually, or both simultaneously.
2. In the Resulting Objects table, click Perform mass change. The Perform Mass Change dialog box opens.
3. From the Select an operation list, select Replace Existing Resource.
4. In the Current Resource Number field, enter the resource number of the existing resource you want to replace. After typing at least three characters in this field, a list appears with one or more values that match the number. When you select a value from the list, this value is used as the resource number. Optionally, you can click the find icon to open the Find Resource window and search for the resource.
5. In the Replacement Resource Number field, enter the number of the resource to use as a replacement for the current resource or click the find icon to open the Find Resource window and search for the resource.
6. The Automatically check in successfully modified objects checkbox is selected by default. Clear the checkbox only if you do not want your modified objects checked in.
7. Click Next to preview the change. The window displays a message to tell you the action that will take place. The objects that will be modified by the replacement are displayed in the Object List table.
8. Click Finish. The system automatically checks out the assemblies and replaces the current resource with the replacement resource. The attributes of the resource usage are retained.
