Windchill Business Administrative Change (BAC) Promotion is a controlled mechanism for promoting administrative configuration changes created or modified in a pre-production Windchill system to a production Windchill system.

For example, you can create a policy access control rule in a test system to verify that the rule functions as intended. After testing is complete, you can move the change to the production system by using the Business Administrative Change UI utility.

Transferring changes from development or test systems to a production system is a critical element in a successful Windchill deployment. BAC is one component of the system configuration management process. This process consists of activities that help you reliably manage changes in a deployed Windchill solution.

Use the Business Administrative Change UI utility to collect and export administrative objects that have changed since a specified baseline or within a date range. Then import the exported files into a development, test, or production system. New objects are created in the target system, and existing objects are updated as needed. Imported objects are not locked in the target system and can be managed as if they originated there.
