Special Characters
The following table identifies the characters that are allowed for specific attributes in Windchill.
 | • When naming a project or a program, the Validate Project/Program name preference determines whether you can use the following characters: / \ : * ? < > | “ , • Folder names must not include a forward slash (/); a warning is displayed if this character is used. Other special characters are also restricted because they may cause errors in Windchill Desktop Integration and Windows Explorer, but no warning is displayed when these characters are used • For SOLIDWORKS configuration file names, the supported special characters in the configuration filenames are <>:"|*?. To include the special character ‘@’ in the configuration file name, set the preference the server-side preference, > > to Yes. |
Best Practices
• Include only one ‘@’ character in the configuration file name for Save As and Rename.
• Do not use the ‘@’ character at the beginning of the configuration file name.
• To avoid any errors, the configuration file names must include the generic name. The configuration file name must be in this format – ConfigurationName@GenericName.
