Windchill+ Release Management
The following diagram explains the Windchill+ release management cycle:
The following stages are a part of the Windchill+ Release Management cycle:
1. Develop — The CCD packages containing code and configuration are developed on-premises or on a PTC hosted cloud portal virtual machine.
2. Push to Integration — Multiple developers and work streams can merge their changes and perform integration testing.
3. Push to QA — Once tested and validated, changes can be pushed to the QA environment for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
4. Release to Production — Once changes are validated and approved, the CCD package can be promoted to the production environment.
Key Points
A seven day retention period is allowed post deployment for Integration environments and a 30 day period for QA, during which the customer is expected to approve or reject the deployment.
After this retention period, to conserve SaaS resources, the environments are automatically restored to that environment’s pre-deployment state.
A full backup is performed before each deployment for restore purposes. After an approved deployment to production, there is an automatic rehost to the lower environments.
