Deployment Overview
This topic describes the steps to get a Code and Configuration Deployment (CCD) package from the development environment to Windchill+.
Consider that you have created the CCD package and tested it in your development environment. You are now confident that the package can be deployed successfully. The next step is to submit the CCD package to the PTC Windchill+ system.
1. Submit — When you submit the package, the system inspects and validates the package. The PTC Windchill+ system inspects the contents of the package to ensure that it is secure. It also checks for adherence to the allowed scope of customization. Once the CCD package passes this check, the system initiates the trigger step.
2. Trigger — The system notifies PTC that a submission has taken place. The system sends you a confirmation that the request has been received.
3. Wait — In Windchill+, you can schedule your deployment, which is part of this waiting period. PTC can also check and approve the deployment before your deployment starts.
4. Start — If everything is good to go, you receive a notification. For backup, the system takes a snapshot. It is now considered that your CCD package is ready to be deployed.
5. Deploy —The CCD package attempts to deploy. You can choose to approve the new package or restore the existing state. If the package fails to deploy, you are notified.
6. Test — The PTC Windchill+ system allows you to conduct testing in your target environment. Once you approve the submission, the process is finished.
7. Finish — Your new code and configuration runs in the target environment.
