Security Labels and Change Objects
Security label values can be set on change objects like they can be set on other Windchill objects. For example, object initialization rules can be created to automatically populate the security label value settings when an object is created.
Change task objects are created from a change notice object, which has implications for the default security label value settings when creating a change task. The following table illustrates each case:
Object Initialization Rule Setting
Description
No object initialization rule set for security label values on the change notice or change task object types.
The change task inherits the security label value settings from the change notice. These values can be changed before completing the creation of the change task.
Object initialization rule set for security label values with the following conditions:
The rule is set on the change task object type.
The rule has attribute constraints defined.
The change task displays the security labels and initial value settings as specified by the change task object initialization rule. For example, the value may be hidden, read-only, or editable. The change task object initialization rule settings override any security label values that would otherwise be inherited from the change notice.
Object initialization rule set for security label values with the following conditions:
The rule is set on the change notice object type.
The rule is configured to display the security label value on the object creation window.
A rule is not set on the change task object type.
The change task inherits the security label value settings from the change notice object initialization rule. These values can be changed before completing the creation of the change task.
Object initialization rule set for security label values with the following conditions:
The rule is set on the change notice object type.
The rule is configured to hide the security label value on the object creation window or to provide a server generated value on the object creation window.
A rule is not set on the change task object type.
The change task displays the null security label value and does not inherit security label value settings from the change notice. These values can be changed before completing the creation of the change task.
*
Object initialization rule settings may differ for each configured security label. Therefore, a combination of the cases listed in the table could occur when creating a change task. For example, one security label value setting could be inherited from the change notice while another is populated due to an object initialization rule.
Attribute constraints can be set on the object initialization rule that determines how the security label values are displayed when creating a change object. For more information, see Define Object Initialization Rules for Security Labels.
