Publishing an Information Structure
From an information structure, you can publish output to be used by Arbortext Content Delivery. An information structure can be published from the top level of the structure to an output called a bundle, which then becomes part of a set of service information input files that Arbortext Content Delivery compiles into a service application.
For information on publishing output support, refer to Publishing Setup.
For information on the information structure, refer to About Information Structures.
Publishing a bundle from an Information Structure
In the Navigator pane, choose a Windchill Service Information Manager product.
1. Expand the product and open the Information Structure folder.
2. On the Information Structure page, highlight the top level of the information structure.
3. On the toolbar under Publish, choose Representation iconRepresentation. The Publish Representation window opens.
4. In the Publish Representation window, provide the following:
Object
Description
Name
Optionally, enter a name for the representation. You can enter up to 60 characters. If you do not enter a name, the name default is used.
Description
Optionally, enter a description for the representation. You can enter up to 4000 characters.
Publishing Rule
Select a publishing rule from the drop-down list to use when publishing the representation.
Language
Select a language from the list if one is supplied by translation target language configuration. The language overrides a publishing rule that also supplies a target language.
However, if you are publishing a dynamic document, you do not see this selection. Publishing can be done directly from a translated dynamic document.
Set as Default
Check this check box if you want this to be the default representation for the structure.
Submit Publish Job
Click to close the window and publish the representation.
Cancel
Click to close the window without publishing a representation.
5. Click Submit Publish Job to close the window and publish the representation.
*
You cannot monitor the progress of your job through the WVS Job Monitor. To access the WVS Job Monitor, click the WVS Job Monitor link in the confirmation message.
Published bundles are not returned to WVS. The bundle output is staged for use by Arbortext Content Delivery. For information on the worker parameters that set the bundle file name and location, see Service Worker Parameters.
Publishing Incremental Changes
If you have published a bundle of an information structure, and then make additions, changes, or deletions to its groups or content, you can perform an Incremental Publish that contains just the content you added or removed.
The Incremental Publish uses the same publishing rules and configuration specification that were applied to the initial full publishing action, so these must still be configured on the Windchill server.
1. Go to the information structure Representations tab.
2. Choose a previously published bundle representation.
3. On the shortcut menu, choose Incremental Publish.
4. The publishing is performed automatically, and you see a confirmation message.
The incremental bundle is placed on the Arbortext Publishing Engine server where it’s configured to store bundles that have been published.
You need to choose Refresh from the Actions menu to update the view.
If the incrementally published bundle representation fails to load to Arbortext Content Delivery, you can perform Republish Increment to publish that selected incremented representation. For more information, refer to Republishing an Incremental Bundle.
