Deleting an Object
You can delete an object from a number of locations:
Actions menu on an object information page
Actions menu in tables, for example, the Folders table
Right-click actions menu in tables
*
If you are working across projects and products or projects and libraries, and you are deleting an object in a project context which is the result of a checkout from a PDM context, then the Delete action performs an undo-checkout of that object. If the object has been shared to the project from another project or context, then the Delete action removes the share from the object.
Use the following procedure to delete an object and collect related objects to be deleted with the selected object.
1. Navigate to the object and select Delete.
2. The Delete window contains the Object List collection table, allowing you to gather objects related to the selected object and delete those objects as well. For more information on using this table, see About the Collector.
*
All objects that appear in the table will be deleted when you click OK, regardless of if you select or clear the check boxes next to the object in the table.
3. Select one of the following options:
Delete all iterations of each object included in the table: Deletes all of the iterations of the revision. For example, if you selected an object version B.3, all iterations of revision B would be deleted and only iterations of revision A would remain.
Delete all revisions of each object included in the table: Deletes all versions of the object. For example, if you selected an object version C.1, it would be deleted, as would all iterations of revisions B and A. The object would no longer exist in Windchill.
*
This option is not available for packages or for objects in projects or programs.
Delete latest iterations of each object included in the table: Deletes only the latest iteration of the revision. For example, if you selected an object version A.4 and A.5 exists, A.5 would be deleted.
*
The default value can be set in the following preference: Delete > Collector > Default Collection.
4. Optionally, select the Run action in the background checkbox.
5. Click OK.
