AI Credits Consumption
When you use the Windchill AI Assistant in a Windchill SaaS environment, AI credits are used to account for consumption. An AI credit is a unit that represents the cost of performing an AI-driven action.
The number of credits consumed depends on several factors, such as the complexity of the request, the type of AI model used, and the amount of data processed.
Users consume AI credits when accessing and executing Windchill AI capabilities within the product. For the Windchill+ AI Assistant, AI credits are consumed during both document indexing and chat-based interactions.
Customers can contact PTC Support to review their current AI credit usage and to purchase additional credit tiers, if required.
Credits Consumed by an AI Action
Credits consumption for Windchill+ AI Assistant is determined as follows:
Document indexing—Credit consumption depends on the document types stored in the Windchill vault. For example, indexing 1 GB of typical PDF documents (with approximately 10% indexable content) consumes 4,000 AI credits.
Chat interactions—Each query/response pair consumes an average of 2 AI credits. In a typical usage scenario, this can result in approximately 16,500 AI credits per user per year, based on the following assumptions:
5 chats per day
5 query/response pairs per chat
Usage across 5 working days
*
These estimates depend on the complexity of the questions and responses, as well as the proportion of indexable content. For more information about estimated indexable content by document type, which contributes to the percent of vault indexed value, see Estimating the Required Number of Partitions for AI Search Service.
Access to AI capabilities continues even after allocated AI credits are consumed. The PTC compliance team monitors usage and works with customers to determine whether additional AI credit packs are required or whether access should be paused until credits are renewed. Visibility into AI credit consumption will be available in a future release.
