What’s New in ThingWorx Utilities 8.4.0
New Features
ThingWorx Software Content Management
The Arguments field has been added to the Execute instruction.
The Upload instruction has been added to the list of instructions for instruction-based packages.
In case of failure of a delivery target during deployment, the Assets in Deployment table displays the status message for the delivery target. Refer to Delivery Target Status Messages during Deployment for information on the possible causes of failure.
The ThingWorx Software Content Management extension checks for the value of the isReporting property to determine if a Thing is communicating normally.
If the value of the isReporting property for a remote asset is true, then you can select and deploy a package to the asset.
If the value of the isReporting property for a remote asset is false, then even if you select and deploy a package to the asset, the deployment is stuck in the Pending state until the asset connects.
For more information about “connection” status of devices, refer to the “Thing Presence” topic in the ThingWorx Help Center.
Known Issues
ThingWorx Workflow
There is a known deadlock issue when performing concurrent updates to the model of an entity.. One of the use cases that exacerbates it is if you try to add multiple dynamic subscriptions on a Thing at the same time. This issue affects workflows that are triggered at a high volume.
ThingWorx Software Content Management
If the installation date for a delivery target is set after the end of the configured Instructions Received timeout, then the target might get stuck in the Instructions Received state.
Fixes
Fixed security issues in ThingWorx Utilities.
Deprecated Utilities
With release 8.4, the Asset and Alert Management Utilities have been replaced by ThingWorx Apps, in particular Asset Advisor. In addition, the Remote Access and Control utility has been moved to and updated in ThingWorx Apps. You can access the Remote Access and Control application through ThingWorx Asset Advisor. New and existing customers are advised to use ThingWorx Apps, and in particular ThingWorx Asset Advisor. For complete information about ThingWorx Apps and Asset Advisor see the ThingWorx Apps Setup and Configuration Guide, which is available through the Reference Documents page of the PTC Support site.
Changes to the ThingWorx Utilities packaging
