Creating Customers in ThingWorx Product Relationship Management
If they have not been created already, you must create customers that are associated with the Owner and Operator property values. This ensures that the customer value displays correctly in ThingWorx Asset Management.
A customer must exist with a name that matches the value defined for the Owner or Operator property for the assets. If the customer entity has not been created using ThingWorx Product Relationship Management, the value for Owner or Operator does not display in ThingWorx Asset Management. Use the following steps to create a customer:
1. From the Console, click Product Relationship Management.
2. Click New Customer. The New Customer window appears.
3. In another browser tab, log in to ThingWorx Composer, and take note of the value that has been set for the Owner and Operator asset properties (AssetOwner and AssetOperator for assets still using the old ontology).
4. Return to the ThingWorx Product Relationship Management browser tab, and enter the value of the Owner and Operator into the Name field of the Create Customer window.
5. (Optional) Fill in any other relevant information for the customer.
6. Assign the asset that has its Owner and Operator properties to that customer. Optionally, you can assign other assets to the customer using the list of available assets in the right-hand column.
7. Click Create. The customer value now appears in ThingWorx Asset Management.
