The tables below describe what’s new, limitations, and known issues for ThingWorx Navigate 9.0.0.
What’s New
Item
Description
Simplified installation
The ThingWorx Navigate installation tool has been simplified to only install ThingWorx Navigate if you already have a compatible version of ThingWorx Foundation installed. For compatibility information, see the ThingWorx Navigate Product Compatibility Matrix.
Simplified in-place upgrade
The ThingWorx Navigate installation tool has been enhanced to smartly guide you through the upgrade from ThingWorx Navigate 8.5.x to 9.0.0, making the overall experience simpler and more efficient.
Prerequisites for this upgrade:
You have installed ThingWorx Navigate 8.5.x using the installation tool.
You have installed or upgraded to ThingWorx Foundation 9.0.0.
General availability of ThingWorx Navigate components
ThingWorx Navigate components, introduced as a BETA feature in the 8.5 release, are now qualified and documented for production use. You can access these components through the Mashup Builder with the ThingWorx Connected PLM license.
*
Action Bar component continues to be available in BETA.
Enhanced Item Identity component
The Item Identity component has been enhanced to allow adding an image, a secondary title, and a secondary title icon. A ready-to-use configuration for Part/CAD object types has also been added to this component.
Ability to export a part structure
The View Part Structure task has been enhanced to allow exporting items displayed in the PART STRUCTURE table. The exported file reflects the levels of the parts in the structure.
Enhanced View Parts List
The View Parts List task has been enhanced to allow the following:
Display a single-level parts list, available through tailoring.
Sort a parts list in the natural order, available through tailoring.
Export items in a parts list to CSV (Excel Formatted). The exported file reflects the levels of the parts in the structure.
Enhanced ThingView widget
The ThingView widget has been enhanced with the following features:
Built-in playback controls for viewing animation and sequence - These controls enable playing, pausing, and navigating between sequence steps when the appropriate content is loaded into the widget.
*
This is primarily for use in custom applications of ThingWorx Navigate, which display annotation sets built using Creo View or figures authored using Creo Illustrate.
Cross-selection capabilities using attributes - These capabilities help identify an attribute in the Creo View data and thereby enable cross-selection between an external data table or grid. This allows users to specify a simple attribute, such as a part number, and cross-select all instances of this part number.
Updated PingFederate support policy
PTC's PingFederate support policy has been updated. Details available in this technical support article.
ThingWorx versions
ThingWorx Navigate 9.0.0 supports ThingWorx Foundation 9.0.0, ThingWorx Integration Runtime 8.0.7.
Known Issues and Limitations
These known issues are new for the current release of ThingWorx Navigate.
Item
Description
Support for the High Availability (HA) configuration
ThingWorx Navigate does not support the HA configuration. This configuration will be supported in a future release.
Need to manually upgrade to production-ready components in custom mashups
All BETA components used in custom mashups will be removed when you upgrade to ThingWorx Navigate 9.0.0. Plan to update your mashups after the upgrade with the 9.0.0 version of those components.
Support for My Tasks on ThingWorx Navigate with Windchill authentication if configured with a Windchill cluster
My Tasks is not supported on ThingWorx Navigate set up with Windchill authentication if configured with a Windchill cluster. If you are using this configuration and need to access My Tasks, get in touch with PTC Technical Support.
Configuring the field delimiter parameter in the exported CSV file
When exporting a parts list or part structure, the data export widget default delimiter is set to a comma (,). In languages where the delimiter is different than comma (usually where the comma is used as the decimal point), the exported file displays unformatted values. To configure the field delimiter specific to your language in the exported CSV file, refer to this technical support article.
URL attributes in the Item Identity component
URL attributes in the Item Identity component do not work as expected due to an issue with the construction of the URL. This issue will be addressed in a future release.
The known issues below apply to all releases of ThingWorx Navigate.
Item
Description
Certain entries in the Integration Runtime log
When an attribute’s internal name is displayed instead of the display name, exceptions are reported in the Integration Runtime log for these cases. You can ignore these exceptions.
Warnings/errors related to ODataTransformerImpl in the Integration Runtime log do not impact ThingWorx Navigate functionality. You can ignore these exceptions.
New installation tools for ThingWorx Navigate
The installation, licensing, and configuration tools have the following known issues:
You cannot run ThingWorx Navigate Setup multiple times on the same machine.
For Linux, the progress bar looks complete even while the installation is in progress.
For all configuration types, no validation is performed on your Windchill connection. Enter the connection information carefully.
The configuration log file contains incomplete information about the Windchill version and CPS number. You can obtain this information from Windchill.
This issue will be addressed in a future release of ThingWorx Navigate.
Configuring ThingWorx Navigate with multiple Windchill systems
Configuration with multiple Windchill systems has these known issues:
For systems with Single Sign-on, after you create new integration connectors for your multiple Windchill setup, you must restart Apache Tomcat to complete the configuration.
The Download Drawing Bundle task is not supported for this configuration.
Windchill System Default filter in ThingWorx Navigate
The Windchill saved filter System Default requires additional configurations. This issue will be addressed in a future release of ThingWorx Navigate.
The workaround for this issue is to define a new saved filter in Windchill that applies the same filtering as System Default. Then, in ThingWorx Navigate, apply your new filter when tailoring the user interface for the roles.
Attributes available for display in View Part Structure
The attributes defined on CAD document Usage Link are not available when tailoring View Part Structure.
Design Files and Drawing File Columns
When configured in the Parts List task, Design Files and Drawing File columns are not sortable.
Content proxy URL
Content Proxy URL field is case-sensitive. If there are capitalization mistakes, the search fails, and users may get errors reporting that a search was dropped by the content proxy.
Updating Windchill CPS
Any time you apply a Windchill CPS, the Windchill enablement patch is overwritten or lost. Make sure to reapply the enablement patch after every CPS update.
*
For ThingWorx Navigate 9.0.0, you need to install the patch only if you are usingWindchill 11.1 M020.
Additional requirements for using the View & Measure in 3D task
The View & Measure in 3D task uses the Creo View client. You can only use this task with the following browser versions:
Google Chrome 75 and later versions
Mozilla Firefox 68 ESR and later versions
Microsoft Edge Chromium 80 and later versions
Displaying values
When using ThingWorx Navigate tasks in some European languages, numeric values are displayed according to the English formatting and not according to the specific locale, for example, a decimal point appears instead of a decimal comma.
Known Issues and Limitations for My Tasks
Ability to view comments added for “Reassign”
While reassigning a task, user can add a comment as a reason for reassignment. These comments cannot be viewed in ThingWorx Navigate.
Display name of attributes
Attributes with the same display name are differentiated in the attributes list on tailoring pages using their path. These paths are not localized and will always appear in English.
For some attributes, property names from Windchill REST Services internal names are displayed on the User Interface (UI) instead of the display names defined in Windchill. As a result, these attributes names will always appear in English.
Task progress information for older trips during a rework loop
When a task goes through a rework loop, the task progress information displayed using the progress bar in My Tasks is incorrect for older trips.
Multiple Windchill support
My Tasks does not support multiple Windchill systems.
The following known issue has been fixed in ThingWorx Navigate 9.0.0.
Item
Description
Ability to retrieve graphic files existing in Windchill vaults
The issue with the ThingView widget on the View Part Structure task, which was unable to retrieve graphic files existing in Windchill master and replica vaults, has been fixed. Ask your Windchill site administrator to configure Cross-Origin Resource Sharing filters to allow cross-origin http requests. For help with configuration, refer to this technical support article.
