Inventory Management
The ServiceMax Inventory module tracks stock operations at field service locations (customer sites and technicians' trunk stock) and internal storage locations like warehouses. It supports stock adjustment, transfer, parts requests, and receipts, and maintains a complete history of stock transactions across multiple locations, offering interactive stock lookup tools.
This module captures, monitors, and automatically updates parts inventory in warehouses, repair centers, and field locations. Stock locations must be defined, and inventory can be tracked by serial numbers and status (e.g., Available, In Transit, Consumed). Inventory updates automatically based on user actions in transactions like RMA, Shipment, Work Order, and Stock Transfer.
The Service Parts and Reverse Logistics module handles complex inventory processes, including:
Bulk returns via dealers.
Inventory movement through receiving and shipping centers, transferring hubs, and delivery and repair locations.
Rule-based routing of IBs and parts between customers and repair centers.
Management of repairs, advanced returns, replacements, and product substitutions.
What Do You Need Help On?
Transactions Related to Inventory
Parts Request: Parts Request allows field engineers and repair locations to request parts from other locations, primarily warehouses. These requests are driven by reorder levels and are not associated with specific Work Orders.
Stock Transfer: Stock Transfer applies when inventory is moved without shipping, through hand-pick or delivery. This is common when field engineers collect parts from a warehouse or when parts are transferred between a warehouse and a repair facility in the same building.
Stock Adjustment: Stock Adjustment allows administrators to reset stock information when there are discrepancies between actual inventory and system records.
Shipment Order: A Shipment Order is an internal document that authorizes the shipment of products or parts to a customer or field inventory location.
Returned Material Authorization: Returned Material Authorization (RMA) document authorizes the return of products or parts to the manufacturer, repair center, or warehouse, facilitating the inbound receipt of customer returns.
