Supplier Warranty Repair
A supplier warranty is a warranty provided by the supplier of a third-party component to the manufacturer. The third-party component may be incorporated by the manufacturers into the products they sell.
This is important when a manufacturer needs to perform a repair for their customer. If the defective part is a third-party component and covered by a supplier warranty, the manufacturer may send it back to the supplier to repair or replace.
During the depot repair process, if the component being repaired has a supplier warranty associated with it, an additional depot action is enabled. This additional step handles the third-party component to:
create a product request to the supplier (shipment to the supplier to repair or replace component)
create a return order from the supplier (for a manufacturer to receive the repaired or replaced component)
The repair center or logistics is involved in the supplier warranty repair process.
The following diagram displays the supplier warranty repair process.
