Creating a new version of a model (Model Explorer)
You can create a new version of a model through Model Explorer and Modeler.
*
You can create a new version of a model version only if that model version is the tip version of the trunk, or the tip version of a branch that has not been reconciled.
You can version a model only if you have Owner access permissions to that model and Owner access permissions to each Package in that model.
While a model is being versioned, other users will not be able to change that model.
To create a new version of a model (through Model Explorer):
1. Start Model Explorer.
2. Locate the version of the Model you want to version:
a. Expand the SQL icon.
b. Expand the Server that owns the Model you want to version.
If the Server that owns the Model is not shown, add the Server to Model Explorer.
c. Expand the Database that owns the Model you want to version.
If the Database that owns the Model is not shown, show the server's databases and then optionally bookmark the Database.
d. If you want to version the tip version of a branch (sandbox), on the Model Explorer toolbar click the Show Versionbutton so that the button is depressed. You can then expand the trunk version from which the branch was created to find the tip version of the branch.
3. Right-click the model you want to version, and then click New Version.
To create a new version of a model (through Modeler):
1. In Modeler, open the version of the model from which you want to create a new version.
2. On the Manage tab, click Version Model.
Modeler opens the new version of the model.
