Headlines
The most significant changes for Studio 8.1 are the new UPDM Profiles, and improvements made to Publisher and the support for variability modeling.
UPDM
New Profiles to support UPDM 2.1 that use MODAF, DoDAF and NAF name aliases.
UPDM products and elements are now shown by type in the Dictionary pane and Diagrams pane.
Variability Modeling
The logic of when a Variation Point is considered included has been changed. For more information, see the related links below.
The logic of when a Variants and Artifacts are removed from a Product Model has been changed.
Then name of the Optional property has been changed to Mandatory. The name of the Internal property has been changed to External.
A Requires Dependency now has a Bidirectional property. In addition, when the Status of a required item is set to Excluded, Studio now sets the Status of the requiring item to Excluded.
The user interface of the Decision Set Editor and the Variant Selector has been improved.
Diagrams
Dragging an item to a Package on a Class Diagram now rescopes that item to the Package.
New shared Aggregation button on the Class Diagram toolbar.
An IO Flow can now link items directly as a link. An IO Flow can now be realized by many Associations, Control Flow, Exception Handlers, Object Flows and IO Flows. There is a new Delete IO Flow Realization command for IO Flows that appear on diagram links. For more information, see the related links below.
When an IO Flow appears on an Association or Connection (as they did in Studio 8.0), it now means that the IO Flow is realized by that Association or Connection.
On a Composite Structure Diagram, you can now create an Association and its linking Ports in one operation. For more information, see Creating an association.
Publisher
Numerous user interface improvements, including toolbar buttons for creating document structure items and the reorganization of how properties appear in the Properties pane.
SysML Profile
You can now set up default view options and compartments for new SysML diagrams, and you can create aliases for SysML diagrams, items and links.
Atego Utilities Profile
New features for saving Studio diagrams to files and for creating data dictionary tables. For more information, see Overview of the Utilities profile package (Utilities profile).
Model Explorer
New UpdateAllProfiles scfutils function for updating all PTC profiles in a model.
Add-ins
Rose Import now imports «enum» stereotyped Classes as Type Definitions only, «typedef» stereotyped Classes as Type Definitions only, Objects as Input Pins and Output Pins. The Derived property of Attributes and Associations is now imported.
The Simulink Synchronizer now supports Full Ports and Proxy Ports.
The Component Sharing Wizard now allows you to import to a model in which you do not have access permissions to all Packages in the model and import to protected Packages.

New Derived property for Attributes and Roles.
Property Pages
On a Stereotype's Property Pages, the name of the More Options tab has been changed to Directly-Stereotyped Options. The Abstract and Browsable properties have been moved to the Directly-Stereotyped Options tab.
Automation interface
New UpdateAllProfiles and ExportModelEx functions.
New Information Source, Information Target and Realization associations for an IO Flow.
New Received IO Flow and Sent IO Flow associations for the following objects: Action Node, Actor, Attribute, Class, Instance, Object Node and Role.
New Is Bidirectional attribute for a Dependency.
New Is Derived attribute for an Attribute and Role.
