Changing a tag definition's data type after it has been published
You cannot change the Data Type of a published Tag Definition, but you can delete a published Tag Definition and recreate it using a different data type.
*
If you apply a Tag Definition to an item, set a tagged value and then remove the Tag Definition from that item, the tagged value you set is retained. If you then apply an identically named Tag Definition that has a different Data Type, the previously set tagged value is applied even if it is not compatible with the new data type. To resolve the incompatibility, you must set the item's tagged value to a valid value.
To recreate a Tag Definition using a different data type:
1. Create the new Tag Definition and set its properties as required.
2. Link the new Tag Definition to the Stereotypes that use the Tag Definition you are replacing.
3. Delete the Tag Definition you want to replace.
4. Rename the new Tag Definition to that of the Tag Definition you deleted.
5. Publish the Tag Definition.
6. For each item that has a tagged value set for the Tag Definition, set the tagged value to a valid value if necessary.
