Multidrop bus (dictionary item)

A Multidrop Bus allows parallel communication between items on the System Architecture Diagram. Rather than all the items being inter-linked, each makes one connection to the Multidrop Bus.

A Multidrop Bus uses the Protocol, Speed and Width properties of a linked Multidrop Bus Type.

You can create a Multidrop Bus through the context menu of a Package: right-click the Package, and select New > Proprietary > System Architecture Model > Multidrop Bus. You can also create a Multidrop Bus through a System Architecture Diagram.

In addition, you can also create a Multidrop Bus by copying an existing Multidrop Bus. Modeler copies the Multidrop Bus' links. For more information, see Copying items.

When used on a diagram, a Multidrop Bus' notation is as follows:

In the Modeler panes, a short-cut symbol

on the Multidrop Bus' icon indicates that the item is a stub.

Properties

In addition to the standard properties, a Multidrop Bus has these properties:

• Visibility

The Protocol, Speed and Width properties are taken from a linked Multidrop Bus Type.

Dependency —The Dependency is owned jointly by the Multidrop Bus and the other associated item. The access permissions you have to a Dependency are determined by the access permissions of the dependent item.

Drop —The Drop is owned jointly by the Multidrop Bus and the associated item. The access permissions you have to a Drop are determined by the access permissions you have to the source item.
