What’s new in Windchill Modeler 9.3
Digital Product Traceability
Windchill Modeler 9.3 provides you with additional integration capabilities with Windchill PDMLink. The Windchill PDMLink 12.0 OSLC client can connect to Windchill Modeler 9.3, browse data and create OSLC links to capture and manage traceability relationships. This ensures that PLM design information such as parts and eBOMs can be connected to system and software designs in Windchill Modeler.

Windchill Modeler 9.3 delivers the ability to view OSLC Links that are stored in PTC RV&S using “reverse lookup” searches. This enables Modeler users to search for OSLC Links within PTC RV&S, providing visibility to traceability relationships and end-to-end navigation from either tool.

Diagramming Productivity
The first of a range of diagramming aids that improve productivity and enhance the user experience is alignment guides. When symbols on a diagram are moved, alignment guides appear to help you easily align with center lines or top, bottom, left or right sides. This gives you a simple, intuitive way to organize and maintain diagrams.

Windchill Modeler 9.3 also delivers a fast and easy way to create models and diagrams with new Quick Create features. Quick Create provides popup menu buttons on diagram symbols that create new items and links in just a few clicks. Only the valid item and link types are available for selection which ensures an excellent user experience and helps to guide you as you are creating diagrams and models.

Another innovation that will significantly improve diagramming productivity with Windchill Modeler 9.3 is auto-routing of links. When creating new links on a diagram they are automatically routed around existing symbols using an optimized, direct path. Existing links can also be rerouted on demand, and there is an option to reroute links automatically when diagram symbols are moved. These capabilities ensure creation of tidy, well laid out diagrams automatically and eliminates the need for you to manually position links and waypoints.

When diagrams have been created using Windchill Modeler 9.3 you can now choose to use new auto-layout features. This feature provides you with a simple, fast way to layout the symbols of your diagram using a tree hierarchy layout. Options allow you to specify spacing between symbols and which link types are used to form the hierarchy.

The final diagramming enhancement is to provide finer control when populating existing items onto a diagram. Windchill Modeler 9.3 allows you to select individual items when populating, ensuring only the desired items are added to the diagram and reducing the need to remove unwanted symbols.
Thing Modelling for ThingWorx
Windchill Modeler 9.3 delivers further capabilities for integrating with ThingWorx IoT environments. With Windchill Modeler 9.3 you can model ThingWorx entities including things, thing shapes, thing templates, services and properties to design any type of IoT solution. Then using Windchill Modeler 9.3 code generation features you can automatically create the thing model definitions required to deploy your ThingWorx IoT solution. Windchill Modeler 9.3 also provides code reversing so changes made within ThingWorx can be synchronized back into the Windchill Modeler model to ensure consistency and visibility.
