Generating a document or Publisher HTML through a document definition (Publisher)
This task covers generating a document or Publisher HTML through a Document Definition that has been provided to you as a DS file.
To generate a document or publisher HTML through a document definition:
1. In Modeler, open the source model from which you want Publisher to generate a document or Publisher HTML.
2. If the Document Definition has been designed to generate a document or Publisher HTML from an item or diagram that is selected in Modeler, select the appropriate item or diagram in Modeler.
Note that none of the provided PTC document templates use a selected item or diagram in Modeler.
3. If Publisher is not started, start Publisher. To find more information, refer to Starting Artisan Document Generator.
4. From Publisher, on the File menu, click Open.
5. Select the Document Definition that you want to use, and then click Open.
6. If you want to change the default Style or Output Format, do so on the Generate pane.
7. If the Output Path is not showing the folder in which you want to generate the Word document or Publisher HTML:
a. Click the selection button that is associated with the Output Path box.
b. Select the folder in which you want to generate the Word document or Publisher HTML.
c. Click OK.
8. In the Generate pane, select the Launch AfterGeneration check box.
9. Click the Generate button.
When the generation process is complete, Ready is displayed in the status bar and the document or Publisher HTML is opened.
10. In the Messages pane, review any messages that were added during the generation process.
Publisher generates the output to the folder specified in the Output Path:
• For the Word output format, the name of the document is based on the name of the Publisher Document Template. Publisher generates Word documents using Word 2003 (.doc) format. If you want to save the document using Word format (.docx), do not select the Maintain Compatibility with Word 97-2003 check box.
• For the Publisher HTML output format, the name of the subfolder in which the Publisher HTML files are generated is the name of the Publisher Document Template.
