Upgrade to PTC Modeler 10.1

PTC Modeler 10.1 has introduced significant upgrades in its database structure to provide enhanced enterprise security. It is mandatory that you follow the steps listed below to migrate your databases to the upgraded structure.
Before upgrading to PTC Modeler 10.1, ensure that you are using a supported version of SQL Server. Refer to the topic Upgrading Microsoft SQL Server in the Modeler help center.
You must perform the following steps to upgrade Modeler to the latest version (10.1).
1. Follow the instructions provided in the Modeler installation topics:
For PTC Modeler Standalone installation steps, see Performing a Standalone Installation.
For PTC Modeler Server-Only installation steps, see Performing a Server-Only Installation.
2. Perform the post installation tasks provided in the following topics::
3. Restore any databases that need to be restored before you migrate your databases. For more information on restoring databases, see Restoring databases.
4. You must migrate your databases to the current schema. For more information, see Migrating All Databases.

6. You may want to set up database administrators for your databases. For more information, see Setting up Database Administrators in the online help.
Local Windows users or groups cannot access SQL Server instances, Modeler databases, and models on other machines. Also, they cannot access the Web Interface servers and view SQL Server instances from other machines. However, the upgrade does not affect Windows Domain users or groups. You must note that the PTC-IM-WSU user is a local Windows user.
