Style modification dialog - general tab
The General tab of the Style Modification dialog allows you to set colors, font, node style, flow style and image of a symbol.

This dialog has the following controls:
Colors group
• Background box - shows the background color that has been set for the style you are defining. If a background color is not set (Default Color Used displayed), then the style you are setting does not change the background color.
• Background Select button - opens a context menu for you to set a background color for the style . From the context menu, click a color to select that color, click Custom to set up and select a custom color, click Hollow to set up a hollow symbol, or click Use Default to specify that the style does not change the background color.
• Lines box - shows the line color that has been set for the style you are defining. If a line color is not set (Default Color Used displayed), then the style you are setting does not change the line color.
• Lines Select button - opens a context menu for you to set a line color for the style . From the context menu, click a color to select that color, click Custom to set up and select a custom color, click Hollow to set up a hollow symbol, or click Use Default to specify that the style does not change the background color.
• Fill box - shows the fill color that has been set for the style you are defining . If a fill color is not set (Default Color Used displayed), then the style you are setting does not change the fill color.
• Fill Select button - opens a context menu for you to set a fill color for the style . From the context menu, click a color to select that color, click Custom to set up and select a custom color, click Hollow to set up a hollow symbol, or click Use Default to specify that the style does not change the text color.
• Use Default Colors button - sets the background, line, text and fill colors to 'Default Color Used'.
Note that you set the color of text through the Font dialog, which you can open by clicking the Select button in the Font group.
Font group
• Font drop-down list - specifies what the font is being set for:
◦ Symbols - specifies font properties for text on diagram symbols.
◦ RTF Text - specifies font properties for text in Rich Text properties, such as, the Description property.
◦ Token Text - specifies font properties for model object references used in Rich Text properties.
• Font box - shows an example of the font that has been set for the style you are defining for Symbols, RTF Text or Token Text as selected in the drop-down list. If no font properties are set (Default Font Used displayed), then the style you are setting does not change the font.
• Select button - opens Font dialog for you to select a font name , size , color and effects (bold, italic, strikeout and underline) for the style you are defining for either Symbols, RTF Text or Token Text as selected in the drop-down list:
For Symbols, you can specify the Font Name, Size and Color. The following effects cannot be set or are ignored: Bold, Italic, Strikeout and Underscore.
For Rich Text, you can specify the Font Name, Size and Color and the following effects: Bold, Italic, Strikeout and Underscore.
For Token Text, you can specify the Font Name, Size and Color and the following effects: Bold, Italic and Underscore. The following effects cannot be set or are ignored: Strikeout.
• Use Default Font button - Unsets the font properties set for Symbols, RTF Text or Token Text (as selected in the drop-down list), so that the style does not change the font. This button is available only if font properties have been set for Symbols, RTF Text or Token Text (as selected in the drop-down list).
Note that changing the RTF Text font does not change existing Rich Text properties.
Node Styles group
• Line Width list - shows the line width value that has been set for the style you are defining, and allows you to select a different value. A higher value results in a thicker line. Select Default to specify that the style does not change the line width. Note that Indeterminate is shown when setting the style of multiple styles that do not have the same line width setting.
• Presentation list - shows the presentation value that has been set for the style you are defining, and allows you to select a different value. Select Default to specify that the style does not change the presentation. Note that Indeterminate is shown when setting the style of multiple styles that do not have the same presentation setting.
• Shadowing list - shows the shadow value that has been set for the style you are defining, and allows you to select a different value. Select Default to specify that the style does not change the shadowing. Note that Indeterminate is shown when setting the style of multiple styles that do not have the same shadowing setting.
Flow Styles group
• Line Width list - shows the line width value that has been set for the style you are defining, and allows you to select a different value. A higher value results in a thicker line. Select Default to specify that the style does not change the line width. Note that Indeterminate is shown when setting the style of multiple styles that do not have the same line width setting.
• Presentation list- shows the presentation value that has been set for the style you are defining, and allows you to select a different value. Select Default to specify that the style does not change the presentation. Note that Indeterminate is shown when setting the style of multiple styles that do not have the same presentation setting.
• Shadowing list- shows the shadow value that has been set for the style you are defining, and allows you to select a different value. Select Default to specify that the style does not change the shadowing. Note that Indeterminate is shown when setting the style of multiple styles that do not have the same shadowing setting.
Image group
• Image box - the box displays the selected Windows Metafile image.
• Image Select button - opens a dialog for you to select an alternative Windows Metafile image to use for a symbol on a diagram.
• Name Only check box - specifies that only the Name of an item is displayed with the alternative image.
• Aspect Ration check box - specifies that the aspect ratio of the image is maintained when displayed on a diagram.
• Clear Image button - unsets the image, so that the default symbol is used. This button is available only if an image has been selected.
Sample group
• Sample box - shows a sample that indicates which features have been set and which features have not.
Clear All General Style Settings button
• Clear All General Style Settings button - unsets the options on the dialog so that the style settings do not change the colors, font , node style, flow style or image.
