Exporting a model (Model Explorer)
You can export any version of a model, except for a branched (sandboxed) version of a model through Model Explorer and Modeler.
To export a model, you must have Database Administrator, Database Owner, or Model Owner access permissions to the Model.
|
• When you export a Model, the exported Model and its Packages do not retain a Protected status and any access permissions that are set.
• While a model is being exported, other users will not be able to change that model.

To export a version of a model (through model explorer):
1. Start Model Explorer.
2. Locate the version of the model you want to export:
a. Expand the SQL icon.
b. Expand the Server that owns the Model you want to export.
If the Server that owns the Model is not shown, add the Server to Model Explorer.
c. Expand the Database that owns the Model you want to export.
If the Database that owns the Model is not shown, show the server's databases and then optionally bookmark the Database.
d. If you want to export a version of the model that is not the tip version, on the Model Explorer toolbar click the Show Version button so that the button is depressed. You can then expand the appropriate model to find the model version you want to export. Note that branch versions appear under the trunk version from which they were branched.
3. Right-click the model version you want to export, and then click Export.
4. Select the folder in which you want to create the export file (.zip file).
5. Click Save.
To export a version of a model (through Modeler):
1. In Modeler, open the version of the model you want to export.
2. On the Manage tab, click Export Model.
3. Select the folder in which you want to create the export file (.zip).
4. Click Save.
