Saving and Managing Files
Filenames

In principle, a filename should be easily understandable and reflect the content of the file. A distinct name or identification number is essential, especially if there is a large number of files with similar contents or when several users are working with the files.
*
A filename cannot contain symbols (§%&), umlauts (üöä), or spaces.
Saving with a Preview

Arbortext IsoDraw offers you the option of saving a file with a preview. The saved preview, which illustrates the file content, is displayed in a panel in the open dialog box. The preview is very useful when looking for one particular drawing in a folder containing several files.
You can specify on the misc preferences page whether a preview is to be saved with a file. If the quality of the preview with standard settings is not sufficient you can change these settings accordingly.
*
However, bear in mind that opting for a preview increases the file size. The higher the resolution of the preview, the larger the file size.
Creating Folders for Files

When managing files, it is essential to structure folders. The folder names should indicate their content.
Every project should be assigned its own folder, including subfolders if necessary. A separate folder should be created for auxiliary files and files containing import data.
*
Folders must be specified before starting work, especially when working with placed files. This is because Link2Source™ technology creates a living link to the source file. If the path to the source file is changed, the link is broken.
When exporting files to use them in other ways, it is useful to save the export files in a separate folder. This applies, for example, to figures that are to be used in operating instructions.
