Perspective Depiction of Bodies in Technical Applications
In general, perspective refers to the depiction of bodies on a flat drawing area and how a body appears when viewed from a particular position. For technical purposes, this definition has to be further modified, as certain principles are followed when drawing the perspective representation of a body.
 
In general, there are two different types of illustration – vanishing point perspective and parallel perspective. Isometry comes under parallel perspective.
In vanishing point perspective, body edges are arranged in relation to one or more vanishing points (see the figure on the left). However, in the various types of parallel perspective, the body edges remain parallel to one another (see the figure on the right).
