Starting the Windchill Directory Server
On both Windows and UNIX systems you will need to start the Windchill Directory Server every time you reboot the machine.
To start the Windchill Directory Server use the following procedure:
1. Start the control panel application using one of the following options:
For Windows
a. Navigate to: <INS_HOME>\InS_SW\SW\System\WindchillDS\server\bat.
b. Launch the following bat file: control-panel.bat
c. Double-click the control panel command, or, from the Start menu, click Windchill Directory Server.
For UNIX
Run the control-panel command from the command line in the terminal window, as follows:
a. Change the directory to <INS_HOME>/InS_SW/SW/System/WindchillDS/server/bin.
b. Execute the following: control-panel.
2. The Server to Administer window displays a drop-down list used to select either the local server or the remote server. If the local server is not running, the window displays the warning, “Not Running.” Click OK to continue using the local server. You can then start the server and log on. If the local server is selected, enter the bind DN and the password of an administrative user. The default value for the bind DN is for the root DN user: cn=Manager. When prompted for authentication, specify the password you used when you installed the Windchill Directory Server, then click OK.
If a remote server is selected, enter the host name of the Windchill Directory Server in the blank field to the right of the drop-down list. Then, enter the Windchill Directory Server Administration Port. Enter the bind DN and password. You will not be able to remotely manage a Windchill Directory Server if the server is not running. You can not start or stop a remote server.
The Windchill Directory Server Control Panel opens.
3. Click Start.
