Using the BOM List in the Bill of Materials Dialog Box
Parameters of identical components are listed in a single line in the table on the BOM List. Two components are considered identical if the values are equal in all parameters.
Use the following commands to save, copy, or edit the BOM:
Click to export the content of the BOM list to a text file.
Click to copy the content of the BOM list to the Excel.
Click to copy the content of the BOM list to an XML file.
Select an additional export format such as (IGES or STEP) for models or (DXF or PDF) for drawings, and click to save all currently selected models in the given format.
Click to copy the content of the BOM list to the Windows clipboard.
Set Freeze position number to YES to freeze all values for position IDs. If frozen, position IDs cannot be edited with EMX. Additional components retrieve the value for the next free position ID that is higher than the current maximum value.
Set Freeze position number to NO to unfreeze all values for the position IDs.
Click Reset Position IDs to reset position IDs.
Click to save only the POS-ID to all components. This is useful if the order of the components is modified but no parameters are modified.
Click one or more items and click or to move the items to the desired position.
Click one or more items, right-click and select cut and paste to move to a new position.
Right–click a line in the table to open the Edit BOM Entry dialog box and edit component parameters.
Click to refresh the list after changing one of the parameters or after changing the display status of the items.
Click Find to look for items in the BOM. All found items are highlighted in red.
Click OK to save part and component parameters and close the dialog box, or click Close to close the dialog box without saving the changes.
Additional in information about the Bill of Materials dialog box follows:
A balloon symbol indicates that a balloon has already been defined for the set of components.
An assembly or part symbol is displayed for each item in the list to differentiate them.
If you do not lock the POS ID, the POS values are updated whenever the dialog box opens..
The value in the quantity column shows the number of identical components.
You can expand or collapse all components which are summarized under one entry line by clicking the expand or collapse button at the beginning of the line.
The symbols and indicate summarized components. Components are summarized if the value of the EMX parameter, Use to Summarize
is set to yes. When set to yes, appears in the column header of the EMX parameter. To set Use to Summarize to yes, use the EMX Options parameter table.
You can show or hide a line from the BOM by clicking or in the second column of the table. You can also select multiple items and show or hide them by right-clicking and selecting Show/Hide Items.
Right–click items in the Bill of Materials to perform the following actions:
Open the Edit BOM Entry dialog box.
Cut and paste selected items.
Show and hide items.
Click Tag or untag as a purchased part or assembly to switch between tagging and untagging subassemblies and subcomponents of the selected BOM item. Tagged items are ignored the next time the Bill of Materials dialog box opens. This status is displayed with the shopping cart icon. Tagging is useful if the content of a purchased subassembly is not relevant for the BOM, such as hotrunner assemblies.
