Using the Find Tool
The Find tool allows you to search the design and catalog to find items with specific parameters and values. Click > to open the Find dialog box.
To move the
Find dialog box, click the title bar and drag it to a new location. To return the
Find dialog box to top right corner, click
.
1. Click Scope to set the scope of your search. You can select more than one option. When you select a catalog type, Datatables is available.
2. Select one or more Search In options from the list.
◦ Design—Searches in the design.
◦ Local Catalog—Searches in the local catalog.
◦ Central Catalog—Searches in the central catalog.
◦ Datatables—Searches datatables to find those with the selected parameters and values.
3. Click Parameters to display a list of the parameters in the design.
a. Select the parameters to include in the search.
b. Type values for the parameters.
When you search in parameters of the type list, it is recommended to use values separated by commas and not an asterisk as a wildcard.
c. To clear the parameter filters, click Clear All.
4. To clear a search filter, click the x adjacent to the name.
The search returns all items that have at least one of the selected parameters with at least one of the values.
6. To save your search settings, follow the steps below:
a. Click Save. The Save Search Settings dialog box opens.
b. Browse to the folder to save the search setting.
c. Type a name for the file in the File name box. By default the settings are saved as a Search File Settings (*.csf) file.
d. Click OK.
7. To load a search settings file, perform one of the following actions:
◦ Click Load. The Load Search Settings dialog box opens.
◦ Click the arrow next to Load and select from the list of recently used Search Settings files.
When you load a file, the settings loaded override the current settings in the Find dialog box.
8. To restore the default search settings, click Reset.
