About Labels
Labels display informative text for sheets and design objects. The label can display parameter values of the object it is associated with, and parameters of associated objects. A configurable format string is used to govern the content of the displayed text. Labels can contain multiple lines. There is no limit to the number of characters or lines in a label. Depending on its size and the current zoom level, the text in a label will be legible or greeked (displayed as a rectangle).
Labels for design sheets are not associated with a shape. A label displays the parameters of the sheet on which they appear. A label placed on the sheet when you create the catalog shape is automatically instanced with the shape in the design. The label displays the shape instance parameters in the design and is constrained to the catalog shape sheet. Labels for catalog fiber shapes
are created in the
Fiber Properties dialog box. A label for a cable is placed on the
cable decoration. A label placed with a shape on the design sheet is associated only with that instance of the shape. When you move the shape, the label moves and the angle of the label remains relative to the shape.
Labels are either rigid or scalable. Rigid labels retain their original size when their parents are scaled. Scalable labels scale with their respective parent components. All labels are rigid by default. When you place a label on a catalog sheet, click a one of the following commands to configure labels:
• Set Labels Rigid—Makes selected labels rigid.
• Set Labels Scalable—Makes selected labels scalable.
• Select Rigid Labels—Selects all rigid labels.
• Select Scalable Labels—Selects all scalable labels.
