About Exporting a Design to Cabling
When a design is driving electromechanical designs created in Creo Parametric Cabling 1.0 and onwards, you must set the MODEL_NAME parameter. Other parameters are not mandatory provided that the following parameters are applied to each CSY used as a connection point in the 3D model.
ENTRY_PORT
GROUPING
INTERNAL_LENGTH
For designs prior to Creo Parametric 1.0, when you export a design to Cabling as an XML file, you must set certain parameters for connectors, spools and cables to use Cabling logical references.
By default, the Name parameter is used as the component’s reference designator in Cabling. To override the default, you can add the ref_des parameter to the component and set the required value.
*
User parameter names in Creo Parametric can only contain alphanumeric characters. Parameters that contain nonalphanumeric characters cannot be exported to Cabling.
Components and Connectors
Connectors connected to a ribbon cable must have the def_grouping value flat to be exported properly to Cabling.

Cables
Cables must have the CONNECTION!CABLE type.
The cable parameters are set by the application of a spool dataset.

*
The best practice is to define the internal length of the wire or cable as a port parameter and not as a block or group parameter.
Wires
Wires must have the CONNECTION!WIRE!WIRING_WIRE type.
Shields must have the type CONNECTION!WIRE!WIRING_WIRE!SHIELD type.
The wire parameters are set by the application of a spool dataset.
