About Parameters in CID to WID Designs
There are specific parameters you must set to create a CID to WID design.
The circuit_id parameter
A company-specific identifier assigned to a data network. The user sets the circuit_id parameter value on Circuit diagram fibers. The component ports in the Circuit diagram inherit the parameter value. The circuit_id parameter value is automatically passed from the port co-shape in the Wiring diagram to the connected connectors, wires, inline connectors and splices. When you route a Wiring diagram fiber, you choose the circuit_id parameter value to route. Ports with the selected circuit_id parameter value are highlighted in the design. You cannot use a datatable to set this parameter. The parameter is automatically propagated on connected items when the following occurs:
A port is connected or disconnected.
A design sheet is imported.
Design sheets are updated.
The verify connectivity tool is used.
*
All connectors, inlines, and terminals must be dual ports to propagate the circuit_id parameter value correctly.
When the circuit_id parameter value is changed, use the Update All Sheets command to automatically update all connected objects in the Circuit diagram and all objects in the Wiring diagram with a Circuit diagram representation.
This parameter is created by default in new CID to WID designs and can be added to legacy designs.
*
When you disconnect a circuit or unset the circuit_id parameter value in the Circuit diagram, it has no effect on the corresponding wires. The circuit_id value in the Wiring diagram is not changed.
The mates_with parameter
This parameter contains all values that are used for retrieving matching connectors.
The parameter for retrieving matching connectors
This is a parameter that exists in the design and is set by a datatable. It can be the model_name, part_number, or any other catalog parameter that can match components with connectors.
The num_of_pins parameter
This parameter is set by a datatable. It is used to automatically set the correct number of ports in a connector before instancing.
