The Find tool allows you to search the design and catalog to find items with specific parameters and values, or to search for text.
To move the
Find dialog box, click the title bar and drag it to a new location. To return the
Find dialog box to top right corner, click

.
The dialog box has two modes, to switch between modes, click the icon.
1. Click > to open the Find dialog box.
2. Make sure that the title of the dialog box is Design Objects Search Mode.
3. Click Scope to set the scope of your search. You can select more than one option. When you select a catalog type, Datatables is available.
4. Select one or more Search in options from the list.
◦ Design—Searches in the design.
◦ Local Catalog—Searches in the local catalog.
◦ Central Catalog—Searches in the central catalog.
◦ Datatables—Searches datatables to find results with the selected parameters and values. The names of artifacts that have a datatable with the parameter and value you are looking for appear in the results.
5. Click Parameters to display a list of the parameters in the design.
a. Select the parameters to include in the search.
b. Type values for the parameters in the

box.
When you search in parameters of the type list, it is recommended to use values separated by commas and not an asterisk as a wildcard.
c. To clear the parameter filters, click Clear All.
6. To clear a search filter, click the x adjacent to the name.
The search returns all items that have at least one of the selected parameters with at least one of the values.
8. To save your search settings, follow the steps below:
a. Click

. The
Save Search Settings dialog box opens.
b. Browse to the folder to save the search setting.
c. Type a name for the file in the File name box. By default the settings are saved as a Search File Settings (*.csf) file.
d. Click OK.
9. To load a search settings file, perform one of the following actions:
◦ Click

. The
Load Search Settings dialog box opens.
◦ Click the arrow next to

and select from the list of recently used Search Settings files.
When you load a file, the settings loaded override the current settings in the Find dialog box.
10. To restore the default search settings, click Reset.
1. Click > to open the Find dialog box.
2. Make sure that the title of the dialog box is Free Text Search Mode.
3. Click Scope to set the scope of the search. You can search the current sheet or the whole design. When you search the whole design, closed sheets are searched as well.
4. Type the string to search for in the

box. All special characters are supported. Use * or ? as a wildcard.
When you display parameter names (Click

in the graphics toolbar) you can search for a function. Include the function in angle brackets, for example <name>.
The search returns all instances of the string, shown in the report table.
6. When you click a row in the table, the result is selected in the current sheet.
7. To see objects on a different sheet, double-click the row in the table. The target sheet is displayed with the object selected.
