To Create a Groove or Butt Weld
Use the Groove Weld (ANSI) or Butt Weld (ISO) tool to create groove or butt welds. If you want to combine weld creation with creating an edge preparation, a notch, or both, use the Weld Wizard.
1. Click Applications > Welding. The Welding tab opens.
2. Click Groove Weld or Butt Weld and then select the weld type on the tab that opens, or select a weld type by clicking the arrow next to Groove Weld or Butt Weld and then selecting a weld type from the menu that appears. The Groove Weld or Butt Weld tab opens.
 
* The button icon shows the last groove or butt weld that was used.
3. Click to create a one-sided weld, or click to create a both-sided weld.
4. To copy references from an edge preparation feature to use for a weld, click . A reference collector appears. In the graphics window or Model Tree, select an edge preparation feature.
 
* No relationship will exist between the edge preparation and the weld.
5. To define the weld scheme, select to use weld size or to use root penetration, and then type or select a value in the value box.
 
* This option is available for ANSI bevel groove, V groove, J groove, and U groove welds. For ANSI flare bevel groove or flare V groove welds, or any ISO weld, weld size is automatically selected.
6. To set the lightweight weld trajectory calculation method, click for automatic, or click for manual (user-defined) and then select a chain reference to define the weld trajectory on the Location tab.
7. To create an intermittent weld, click and set intermittency options.
8. Click the Location tab, and define the weld location.
9. Click the Shape tab, and set dimension values to define the weld shape.
10. Click the Options tab, and define the weld options.
11. Click the Symbol tab, and define the properties of the weld symbol displayed in the graphics window.
12. To add a user-defined parameter, click the Properties tab, and then click Define. Enter a parameter in the Parameters dialog box that opens.
