Default Interface
In Creo Simulate, you can specify the default state of the coincident surfaces or component(s) in part and assembly models. You can choose to merge them, leave them free, or create contacts between them.
When you open a model in Creo Simulate for the first time, the Model Setup dialog box is displayed automatically. Otherwise, select Edit > Model Setup to open the Model Setup dialog box.
Select the default interface type for the model. Select any type from the following interface types:
Structure
Thermal
Bonded
Free
Bonded
Creo Simulate automatically creates interfaces to connect coincident surfaces and components while meshing or analysis. However, Creo Simulate does not create any measures for the default interface.

* The Model Setup dialog box expands, when you select the Contact interface type. You can specify the Selection Filtering Tolerance to automatically detect the components that can connect by contact interface. You can also specify Properties of the Contact interface.
Select Mesh > Review Geometry in FEM mode or AutoGEM > Review Geometry in native mode to open the Simulation Geometry dialog box and preview different interfaces. Read Precedence Rules for information on how Creo Simulate uses interfaces in an assembly.
When you open a model that was saved in a release prior to Wildfire 4.0, Creo Simulate uses the following guidelines to set the default interface:
In the Native mode prior to Wildfire 3.0 and Wildfire 2.0, you cannot set the default interface type for a model. If you open any such model in Pro/Engineer Mechanica Wildfire 4.0 and later the default interface type is Bonded.
In the FEM mode prior to Wildfire 3.0 and Wildfire 2.0, you can set the default interface type. If you open any such model in Pro/Engineer Mechanica Wildfire 4.0 and later, the default interface type of the model is the same as set in the Wildfire 3.0.
If you have used Free as the default interface in Wildfire 3.0 or Wildfire 2.0, two default interfaces are created for the model in Wildfire 4.0. In Structure module the default interface is Free and in Thermal module the default interface is Adiabatic.
For any model that was saved in a release prior to Wildfire 2.0, the default interface type is set as Bonded when you open the model in Wildfire 4.0 and later.
