To Create a Weighted Link (FEM Mode)
1. Click Refine Model > Weighted Link. The Weighted Link Definition dialog box opens.
2. Enter a name for the weighted link or use the default name. Click the color swatch adjacent to Name if you want to change the color of the icon, the distribution, and the text displayed for the link.
3. If you did not select geometry for the independent side of the link before entering the dialog box, choose the reference type and select any of the following geometric references:
Points—Select individual points, point features, patterns of points or intent points.
Edges/Curves—Select single edges or curves or intent chains and intent curves.
Surfaces—Select individual or intent surfaces.
The reference collector of the independent side displays the selected entity.
4. Select one of the following types of a coordinate system in the Independent Side:
World—WCS is the default coordinate system.
Selected—any UCS. The CSYS collector displays the selected UCS.
Nodal—uses the nodal coordinate system of the elements for orientation. The selected nodes are oriented for nodal displacement.
5. For the independent side, accept the default Degrees of Freedom or select a different combination of DOF.
6. For the dependent side of the link, select or create a point as a reference entity.
7. As in the Independent Side, select a coordinate system in the CSYS area for the dependent side.
8. Click OK to save the new weighted connection. Two icons are placed on the model—one for the weighted link and another for the degrees of freedom.
