To Automatically Detect Weld Feature Welds
The Detect Weld Features option is available in the part and assembly modes for all 3D models in both native and FEM modes. You can use this option to automatically create weld feature objects for groove or fillet type surface welds and all solid welds available in the model that are created using the Creo Parametric Welding application.
1. Open a part or assembly model that has solid welds or surface welds of the type fillet or groove.
2. Click Refine Model and then click the arrow next to Weld.
3. Click Detect Weld Features. The Auto Detect Weld Features dialog box opens.
4. Select individual component parts or assemblies in which you want to automatically detect weld features. If you selected valid components before opening the Auto Detect Weld Features dialog box, your selections appear in the Components collector when the dialog box opens.
5. To detect welds and create weld features between surfaces (surface-surface), you can select the Override weld feature settings check box and then select a material from the Materials list or click More to select a material from the material library. By default this check box is cleared.
6. For welds that are between edges (edge-edge), or between surfaces and edges (surface-edge), the Override weld feature settings is selected by default. Specify a value for thickness. This value is the thickness of the shell that the weld is compressed to during meshing. In the case of solid welds the weld is meshed with solid elements and hence you do not need to specify a value for thickness.
Select the part material, weld material or any other material from the Materials list or click More and select a material from the materials library, to detect welds and create weld features with the specified material.

* If you select weld material and the weld does not have a material assigned to it, weld objects are not automatically created for all these welds. A log file AutoDetect_weld_feat.log is created in your working directory and lists the Creo welds with their IDs for which simulation weld objects are not created because material is not assigned to them.
7. Click Start. Creo Parametric detects all welds with the specified criteria and adds them to the Model Tree. You can then select, copy, modify or delete the created weld feature welds.

* If you have welds with different properties in your model you may need to change the settings on the Auto Detect Weld Features dialog box and run the command multiple times.
