To Extend a Pipeline by Referencing a Plane or a Point
1. Make sure there is a free end or start feature.

 This type of Extend cannot be used when the start feature is on a csys. |
2. Click
Extend to open the
Extend dialog box.
3. Click the
Use Route Csys check box to use the route coordinate system as a reference.
4. Select a plane or point as a reference. The Upto Plane/Point option is selected by default.
5. Select the Dimension options:
◦ Length—Extends the pipe segment to the given length in the direction of the reference plane or point. Type a value in the box or drag the handle in the graphics window.
◦ Offset—Extends the pipe segment up to a given offset distance from the reference plane or point. The distance between the start of the pipe segment and the reference plane or point is displayed by default in the box. Type a new value or drag the handle in the graphics window to change this value.
◦ Offset from Ref—Extends the pipe segment a given offset distance from another selected reference plane or coordinate system. Do the following:
▪ Select a Plane/Csys reference.
▪ Type an offset value in the box or drag the handle in the graphics window to change the offset.
▪ When you select a Csys reference, select an axis from the Projection list.
◦ Offset Edge—Extends the pipe segment until the pipe edge is offset from the reference plane or point by the specified value. Type a value in the box or drag the handle in the graphics window to change the offset distance.

◦ Offset Edge from Ref—Extends the pipe segment offset from a selected pipe or plane. Do the following:
▪ Select a Pipe/Plane reference.
▪ Type a value in the box or drag the handle in the graphics window to change the offset distance
▪ Click
to flip the direction of the offset.
◦ Stop at—Extends the pipe segment up to the reference plane or point.
6. Click OK to extend the pipe segment and quit the dialog box or click Apply to extend the segment and configure a new segment.
